ย ย Nigeria our beloved country which is tagged “The giant of Africa” has been going through economic situations that has led to borrowing of which the debt has been on the increase. This happen to be one of the reasons why Nigerian naira has lost its strength. From 1999-2007, former president Olusegun Obansanjo was the first to borrow money to run the country, the total amount he borrowed was 2.42trillion naira and at that time naira was 116.8 to 1dollar.ย ย

ย Next was the former president late Umaru Musa Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan from 2007-2011. The amount borrowed was 6.17trillion naira. Yar’adua died and could not complete his tenure then Goodluck Jonathan who was his vice took over till the end of the tenure. During that time, naira was 156.7 to 1dollar. From 2011-2015, former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan came in to power and he borrowed about 12.12 trillion naira which also increased the exchange rate as naira was 196.96 to 1dollar.ย
ย ย Finally from 2015-2021, president Muhammadu Bihari who is the recent president has borrowed 26.9trillion naira which has drastically increased the exchange rate as 381.0 naira is equal to 1dollar. Presently, the price of things are not friendly and if the exchange rate continue to increase, it will cause havoc in the Nation’s economy.
ย ย The Youths in every Nation are seen as the future leaders and Nigeria is not an exception. A Youth is someone that is young or passed the adolescent age and are known for their strength and zeal. Nigeria which is one of the countries in the world located in the continent of Africa, precisely the western part is blessed with a large population which includes the Youths.
ย ย Before now, the country was flourishing especially when she was given her independence from the colonial masters. Years went by and things began to change gradually just as the saying goes “change is constant”. If this is true then it should be positive change, not the other way round. I will not be sentimental and blame a political party, religious body or a particular tribe for the recent happenings but rather put it to everybody as we all have a part to play.
ย ย A place where the leaders cares more of themselves and their loved ones not considering those that put them in power, a country where some youths are more than eager to carryout a politician’s biddings even when they know it will affect others. An environment where men and women collect little bribes in other to manipulate things at their offices there by creating more problems in the society.
ย ย Many youths have come to realize that alot of things aren’t moving in the right direction and for us to experience a positive change it has to begin with us as individuals which includes the way we talk and act amongst others. Lots of young people have decided to engage in agriculture due to the present situation of the Nation and also because it is believed to be lucrative.
ย ย Agriculture has many aspects involved like farming, fishery, poultry, etc. It has been a trade forgotten long ago as a result of oil boom which made many citizens neglect it and focus on oil. During that period Nigeria was one of the major distributors of crude oil to other Nations to the point that our country helped in paying the salaries of other countries workers. As at that time our currency was strong and we’ll recognized but as oil is not enough to keep the country going, agriculture is seen as the next option.
ย ย With the level of education in the country, most youths now know how politicians try to play them by using them for their political aims making it seem like they are actually working but it is the other way round. Youths have positive mindset especially in political involvement. With the support of the government for youths to engage in politics and also have parties that has more young people participating, the youths will implore all possible means to make the country work properly.
ย ย Some young people partners with non- governmental organizations that are against violence and injustice to create awareness to everyone so as not to be caught indulging in such negative acts. This is possible because they speak to their families, friends, neighbours and even religious bodies to help control these societal flaws. Although it has not totally stopped but it has reduced in a better way.ย
ย ย These are some of the few ways the young people can come in to make Nigeria better. Most of what is written are based on youths but I bliv that for us to achieve a new Nigeria, the effort has to be both from the yound and old.

The girl child is a biological female offspring from birth to eighteen years, she is dependent on the people that she models her behavior through observation, repetition and imitation. In Nigeria girls are discriminated against access to educational opportunity, food and nutrition, they are married off at early ages which interferes with their education

On 11th October this year, UN women joined other UN agencies, civil society and girls around the world to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child under the theme “Digital Generation, Our Generation”

They are calling for equal access to the internet and digital devices for girls and targeted investment to facilitate opportunities for girls to simplify and meaningfully access, use, lead and design technology.
